Antibiotice Iași Welcomes IBM Research Vice President, Jason Silbergleit. Opportunities for Innovation in the Romanian Pharmaceutical Industry

On March 6, Antibiotice hosted the visit of Jason Silbergleit, Vice President of IBM Research (USA), and the IBM delegation for a meeting focused on integrating cutting-edge technologies, such as quantum computing and artificial intelligence, into the company’s future Research & Development Center, Inova a+.

The visit took place in the context of the launch of a quantum computing research, education, and innovation campus in Iași, developed in partnership with IBM. This will be the first facility of its kind in Romania, aiming to establish Iași as a regional hub for research in quantum technologies.

During the visit, Jason Silbergleit met with Ioan Nani, CEO of Antibiotice Iași, Gianina Macovei, Executive Director of Research & Development, Ștefania Alexandru, Director of Strategic Planning and Portfolio Management, and a team of young specialists from research and IT.

Discussions focused on the integration of quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies into the Inova a+ structure. This state-of-the-art center, which will benefit from European funding for the production of critical medicines through the Ministry of Investments and European Projects, is set to become a strategic pillar in the development of innovative therapeutic solutions. Inova a+ will leverage these technologies to create a fully digitalized system, accelerating medicine discovery and enhancing the efficiency of testing and validation processes.

Strategic Partnership with IBM for the Digital Transformation of Antibiotice Iași

In 2024, Antibiotice Iași entered into a strategic partnership with IBM to implement SAP S/4HANA, the most advanced enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, which integrates all company processes. The adoption of this digital solution will improve operational efficiency, accelerate response times, and enhance the company’s ability to meet market demands, in line with sustainable development principles.
