Antibiotice Iași: One of the most used antibiotics in pandemic won the auction organized by the European Commission

The fight against the SARS-CoV-2 virus has led Europe to take safety measures against stocks of beta-lactam antibiotics administered by doctors around the world to treat Covid-19-associated infections.

Thus, the European Commission recently completed the auction to provide Member States with the necessary stocks for the second wave of the pandemic with beta-lactam antibiotics (amoxicillin with clavulanic acid and piperacycline with tazobactam).

Antibiotice Iași won this auction for the product AmoxiPlus® (amoxicillin / clavulanic acid – sterile injectable powder) and will deliver, at the request of European countries, 2,750,000 vials, in a period of 12 months.

Amoxicillin with clavulanic acid, along with piperacillin with tazobactam, are the main products recommended by the World Health Organization in anti-infective treatment.

Winning the auction involved obtaining a maximum score by cumulatively meeting four essential conditions: quality, shelf life, price, speed / prompt delivery.
