The “Donate Blood! Give Your Heart for Life!” Campaign Saves 270 Lives
The 26th Edition of the Blood Donation Campaign at Antibiotice Iași
Today, October 17th, the 26th edition of the blood donation campaign “Donate Blood! Give Your Heart for Life!” took place at the headquarters of Antibiotice, organized by the “Antibiotice – Science and Soul” Foundation, in partnership with the Regional Blood Transfusion Center Iași (CRTS Iași).
The 90 voluntary donors, both recurring and new, employees of Antibiotice, donated nearly 40 liters of blood, which will contribute to saving 270 lives.
“We are at the second blood donation campaign of this year. It is a traditional campaign, and this shows our desire to do a good deed and a humane gesture for others. We hope that our initiative will inspire the community, thus multiplying the gesture of the Antibiotice employees and giving life to those in need”, said Ioana Tode, president of the “Antibiotice – Science and Soul” Foundation.
The donation campaign, supported by the “Antibiotice – Science and Soul” Foundation, is the longest-running project dedicated to blood collection organized in a company in Iași County.
For more than 13 years, since the company Antibiotice started the “Donate Blood! Give Your Heart for Life!” campaign, doctors at CRTS Iași have had access to a steady base of donors, including those with rare blood types.
“During my studies, I did an internship in hospitals, and that’s when I saw how important the blood reserve is and, implicitly, the help provided to those in need. Since then, I’ve tried to donate whenever I have the opportunity”, said Bianca Curalaru, employee in the Analytical Research Department at Antibiotice.
The collection took place on the Antibiotice company premises, at the a+ Clinical Studies Center, and was carried out by specialists from the mobile unit of CRTS Iași, with the support of the specialized staff from Antibiotice.
Annually, the two blood donations organized at Antibiotice help save the lives of patients in Iași hospitals and, in exceptional cases of acute blood shortages, patients in hospitals across the cities of Moldova.
